Chocolate Chip Cookies

Mix together:
2/3 cup shortening
2/3 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla

Blend in:
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon salt

Mix well and stir in 8 oz chocolate chips. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. This is a Voorhees family favorite!

  1. Another option is to make a big cookie using the same recipe. Just use half of the cookie dough and lay it in a flat circle about an inch thick and bake it at 350 degrees for 15 mins

    The Best & Easiest Chocolate Frosting
    yield: WILL FROST 1-9 INCH ROUND LAYER CAKE OR 24 CUPCAKES
    INGREDIENTS:
    1 cup softened butter
    1/2 cup cocoa powder, sifted
    5 cups powdered sugar
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    3-4 tablespoons milk

    DIRECTIONS:
    Whip butter and cocoa together until smooth in large bowl. Stir in vanilla and powdered sugar. Slowly stream in milk until frosting reaches desired consistency. Scrape sides and whip again until light, fluffy and smooth, 1-2 minutes. Frosts 1-9 or 8 inch round layered cake or 24 cupcakes.
