CREAM together:
1 cup sour cream
1 1/2 teaspoon soda
4 eggs
ADD:
1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix together and ADD:
5 to 6 cups of flour ~ one at a time. Dough will be sticky. REFRIGERATE at least 2 hours or overnight. Roll out on floured counter to 1/4 inch thickness (dough may need more flour). Cut into desired shapes. Place on greased cookie sheet. BAKE 350 degrees for 9 minutes.
(I made these cookies for ward conference for all the YW in the Stake. The dough is really sticky so the amount of flour varies before you roll it out) These cookies raise while cooking so they are thick and moist. Very yummy!
FROSTING:
1/3 cup butter
3 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
dash of salt
Frost cookies when cooled!
